With the opening of another shopping paradise down south in Johor – AEON Bukit Indah Shopping Centre, another traditional tree planting ceremony took place on 6 December 2008. The event was offi ciated by the Chief Minister of Johor, Y.A.B. Dato’ Haji Abdul Ghani bin Othman. About 600 volunteers gathered at the parking area of the shopping centre to take part in this memorable event. A total of 3,032 saplings of 5 species of trees were planted by AEON’s staff,local authority, students, tenants, children from orphanages and guests. The tree planting effort is not just part of AEON’s commitment to saving the environment for future generations,but also helps to build the relationship between AEON’s staff, the local community and the authorities. Furthermore, a special donation presentation to schools and organisation also took place. Sekolah Menengah Dato’ Usman Awang, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Perling 1, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Taman Bukit Indah and Pusat Kebajikan Klvari each received a computer worth RM1,700.

On 15 November 2008, about 700 volunteers comprising AEON’s staff, nearby residents, tudents, tenants and local authority took part in the tree planting ceremony in conjunction with the opening of AEON AU2 Setiawangsa Shopping Centre. Guest of Honour, Director General of Dewan Bandaraya Kuala Lumpur, Y.Bhg. Datuk Hj. Salleh b. Yusup was among the 700 volunteers to plant 4,617 saplings.The tree planting ceremony signifi es the relationship between AEON and folks in Setiawangsa and AEON’s corporate social responsibility through positive community-focused initiatives. In addition, fi ve (5) schools - Sekolah Kebangsaan Setiawangsa, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Seri Keramat, Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan (Tamil) Taman Melawati,Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Lembah Keramat and Sekolah Kebangsaan (2) Taman Keramat each received RM2,000 worth of educational books.

A Tree Planting Ceremony was held on 26 July 2008 in conjunction with the opening of AEON Seberang Prai City Shopping Centre in Bandar Perda, Bukit Mertajam, Penang. The memorable event was offi ciated by the then Deputy Minister of Housing and Local Government, Y.B. Dato’ Hamzah bin Zainudin. The event saw about 700 volunteers comprising AEON’s staff, earby residents,students, tenants, suppliers and local authority who altogether planted ,500 saplings.A special book presentation also took place, where four (4) schools – Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (C) Keow Kuang,Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Perda, Sekolah Kebangsaan Bandar Baru Perda and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (T) Bukit Mertajam each received RM2,000 worth of educational books.

AEON CO. (M) BHD. continued its tradition with a Tree Planting Ceremony on 29 August 2005 in conjunction with the opening of its 12th store, JUSCO Seremban 2. The ceremony was officiated by The Mentri Besar of Negeri Sembilan, Y. A. B. Dato’ Seri Utama Hj Mohamad bin Hj Hasan. The event saw community participation of approximately 2,000 volunteers comprising AEON customers, school children and teachers, nature lovers, government agencies, NGOs and AEON staff who altogether planted 3,300 saplings. This “Tree Planting Ceremony” at JUSCO Seremban 2 signifies the start of a lasting relationship between AEON and the people of Seremban.

The traditional Tree Planting Ceremony was held on 10 December 2005 prior to the opening of our 13th store. Guest of Honour, State Secretary of Johor, YB Dato’Hj. Mohd Razali bin. Mahusin joined approximately 850 volunteers comprising AEON customers, J CARD members, suppliers, local residents, NGOs, army personnel and AEON staff to plant 6,000 saplings. The AEON Tebrau City Shopping Center tree planting ceremony signifies the deepening relationship between AEON and the people of Johor. It also demonstrates our commitment to give back to society through positive community-focused initiatives.

In conjunction with the opening of its 14th store at Taman Equine, AEON CO (M) Bhd had organised a tree planting ceremony on 27th May 2006 in the surrounding area of the shopping centre which located in Seri Kembangan, Selangor. YB Dato’Ramli bin Mahmud, The Selangor State Secretary had been invited as the honouroble guest who officiated the tree planting ceremony on that day. Together with him there were about 800 participants from local authorities, students from nearby schools, residents associations, NGOs like OISCA and SILARA, JUSCO’s suppliers, tenants, staff and J Card members. An estimated of 4000 seedlings were planted.

A thousand enthusiastic nature lovers turned up to participate in the tree-planting event to commemorate the grand opening of AEON CO. (M) BHD’s 16th JUSCO store, Cheras Selatan, Balakong on 4th November 2006. The event was officiated by Deputy Ministry Housing and Local Government, YB Dato’Hajah Azizah bt Datuk S.P Haji Mohd Dun. Featuring 4,000 saplings, the tree-planting project was a great success. Dr Osman Mohd Tahir, Dean of Landscape & Architecture, demonstrated the planting procedure and this was followed by planting by 1,000 volunteers comprising JUSCO staff, customers, business partners, staff of Majilis Bandaran Kajang, the local Fire Department, Police Department and the National Landscape Department, school pupils and their teachers and local residents.
